Gate leading onto Catherton Common from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Field

“Gate leading onto Catherton Common from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Field. This was put in some time ago by the SWT to stop vehicles using the route and works very well.”

This statement was made by Chris B (Shropshire Wildlife Trust warden and neighbour) posted on the Clee View Bridleways Group website dated 30th September 2011, under the Section F – Oreton – Catherton Common section – LINK:

This is confirmation that the original ten foot gate was replaced by Shropshire Wildlife Trust with a much smaller gate, this gate was specifically designed to obstruct vehicular access via the property’s legal right of way.

Further acknowledgement that Shropshire Wildlife Trust was well aware that vehicles were driving via this route when they changed the gate:

Email from Carl P – Reserves Manager dated 6th March 2008: ” Prior to meeting I would like to have some more details as to where the house is and which track it is that is used for access as there are two tracks across the reserve..”

Email from Colin P – former Chief Executive Officer dated 9th June 2016 “Mrs W———- and her brother before must have had access to Lower Marsh Farm whether by water tight legal means, by prescriptive right..”

This is the gate that separates Cramer Gutter from Catherton Common, over the last 14 years this area has deteriorated. It is therefore essential that  vehicular access is reinstated to fulfill the criteria for a Prescriptive Right of Way with vehicles and at all times as prescribed by the Land Registry.
